Keepers of the Home

Last night I went to my first meeting of "Keepers of the Home". It was awesome! I had no idea what to expect but basically the speaker covered ideas about how to keep to a schedule so your family life isn't crazy. We really need that. We don't even have big kids involved in activities yet and our lives are hectic.
One of the main points emphasized getting up an hour before the kids and doing your quiet time with God. I'm all for that, but I swear my kids can hear me breath the second I wake up. It's so weird. So today I crept out to the kitchen, poured a glass of milk, grabbed a banana and a nutrigrain bar, and snuck into our closet to read my Bible. (The closet seemed to be the only place they wouldn't think of to look for me!) Anyway, I had barely cracked open to Proverbs when I heard Ryan wailing upstairs. It never fails. So I brought him down and fed him. At least I could still read my Bible while nursing. I think he still has a cold, so I'm not too upset with him. :)
Summary of the new routine for day 1: not a bad start . . . .

Is Keepers of the Home something you will go to regularly? I hadn't heard of it.
Not everyone is a morning person and morning time with God doesn't always work for everyone. I actually have time with God while I'm getting ready. I listen to Christian speakers over my laptop etc while "primping." :) But I know that God doesn't expect us to have a certain time of day with Him. If naptime works better or staying up a 1/2 hr later - that might work for your schedule better. :)

The group meets once a month at Calvary Chapel. They also have information online if you're interested.

Yeah, I'm not a morning or night person or anything anymore. Anytime I sit down to read I fall asleep. :)

Let me know how the getting up an hour before the kids works- I can't seem to have that time without them waking up, too. It's a real dilema. I fall asleep anytime I sit down to read, as well. I'm open to suggestions on where to get the time in!
