Parade of Homes

Along with yardsales, I love this time of year for going to the Parade of Homes. It's such a treat getting to walk through gorgeous, award-winning houses! Ethan and I go every year and went last night together. Below are two pictures of a secret room. Since I loaded these pictures backwards the reveal is showing first, but oh well. It was a bookcase that you gently pressed on to slide back into a low-ceilinged room for kids. Our kids weren't with us last night but they would have gone crazy over that. Wondering where I can put it in my house . . .

Besides unique architectural features, parade homes are decorated beautifully and perfectly landscaped. They kind of take your breath away. And yet -- and I am so thrilled to say this and truly mean it -- when we got back home after looking last night, I was SO HAPPY with our home! Our house is nothing special but it's perfect for our family. We've lived in nine places in our marriage and it is such a joy to finally feel like we're home.

awesome. and i still think under your stairs would work perfectly. you could keep the closet, so it's inconspicuous... but hide a kid's room behind the coats (or whatever it is that you keep in that closet). kinda like the lion the witch and the wardrobe hide-out.

True! They kind of do that anyway, but it would be fun to dedicate the space for a secret getaway.
