For a long time I have considered not using the real names of our kids on my blog because it's public. I've hesitated to make the change because I know it means a couple hours of editing old posts. But I've decided to start today. If you know us please don't use their real names in comments. Thanks!
New names are as follows:
Our 8-year-old girl is Spunky.
Our 6-year-old girl is Giggles.
Our 4-year-old boy is Bubba.
Our 1-year-old girl is Calico.
What do you think about blog privacy? Any stories or thoughts?

i love the names! i think cyber safety is very very very important. vitally... but i seem to be a freak of nature. :)
i wish i would've thought harder about the names i chose before i started our blog. but i didn't... i just used the first ones that came to me. and there's NO WAY that i'm going back through all of the blogs (even though i just started at the end of last year)!!!
anyway, good for you being concerned for your family's safety.
I posted about this same topic a month or so ago. I'm a paranoid person and feel like someone could totally cyberstalk me if they wanted. In fact, I've posted a couple things that I've considered taking down because I think they're too revealing. Some people post their full name, city, and pictures of their home. I guess I'm just a fraidy cat! But I like nicknames better than initials. They are easier to follow.
Eliseo and I talk about online safety and sometimes he encourages me to take more precautions - which I do. I shift and change things as time goes on.
I have heard though, that most situations where someone would want to harm your kids, stalk you, etc - would be someone who already knows you.
But if you feel comfortable using other names - I say go for it. On my public blog, I use my girls' names less than I used to when I first started out.
