My nurse today was so excited. She remembered seeing these air mattress beds that looked really comfortable at another hospital, so she ordered one for me. The words air mattress don't particularly scream comfortable to me, but I was curious. It's not too bad! It can heat up and even weigh people also, which makes me wonder if you have to throw all the pillows and blankets off to get a proper weight. It's kind of like sleeping in a bounce house. I couldn't stop laughing over the squishiness the first time I climbed in. :)
I am looking for some frugal appetizer recipes right now. Also, without regard to cost, what appetizers do you like best?

cool bed. is it blue?!
Kimberly - I just tried this for the first time the other day and it was delicious! This is Karli's recipe.
HOT PIZZA DIP:
1. Mix together 1 box cream cheese & 1 tsp. italian seasoning.
2. Spread on bottom of square baking dish
3. Make a mixture of 1c. mozzarella cheese & 3/4c. fresh grated parmesean cheese
4. Sprinkle half the cheese mixture over the cream cheese
5. Pour one can pizza sauce evenly over this mixture
6. Sprinkle remaining cheese (and a little extra mozzarella if you're feeling feisty!) over the top
7. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes
8. Serve hot with french bread pieces or lightly baked baquette bread with olive oil
YUM!
A new bed! How sweet that nurse was to order you one!
Appetizers. I just made Italian Nachos for New Year's Eve and it was pretty good. Tortilla chips on cookie sheet, pepperoni, olives, mozz cheese. Cook until cheese is melted. Then drizzle alfredo sauce over - serve warm. Mmmm....
Well which bed do you like better?
Also, Sausage Balls!
1 Jimmy Dean Sausage Roll (I think that's a pound)
1 cup Bisquick
1 cup Shredded Cheese
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Prepare tray: Lay alumminum foil on a cookie pan and put a cooling rack on top. Mix above ingredients. Roll into balls and place on tray. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until browned.
My fav!
Easy & Cheap:
pour salsa over cream cheese, serve with chips
A Fan Favorite:
Spinach dip.
Buy Mrs.Grass (it's the best) and prepare as directed on the back, we add water chesnuts because we like the crunch. serve with bread.
A Classic:
Little Smokies & Meatballs.
2 pkgs of Hillshire Farms Little Smokies
1 pkg of Meatballs (I only use half or so, just eyeball it don't have TOO Many)
1 can of pinapple chunks
1 can of crushed pinapple
1 can of water chesnuts
1 bottle of your favorite BBQ, I like Kraft brand I think it's Smoky BBQ
mix and heat in crockpot for at least 4 hours to cook the frozen meatballs. Stir ocassionally.
I've got a million of these. What's the event? sometimes that changes the food.
here's a really good one, super tastey, and they look fancy too!
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 (.7 ounce) package dry Italian-style salad dressing mix
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 French baguette, cut into 1/2 inch thick circles
1 cucumber, sliced
2 teaspoons dried dill weed
In a medium bowl, mix together cream cheese, dressing mix and mayonnaise.
Spread a thin layer of the cream cheese mixture on a slice of bread, and top with a slice of cucumber. Sprinkle with dill. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
One time I accidently bought a sourdough baguette instead of the french (they were almost identical) and Lane said he liked it better. I think either is good.
skye makes THE BEST appetizer you will ever eat. Id on't know what they are called so you can make up your own name ;o)
you need:
a baguette sliced
pesto
cream cheese
sun dried tomatoes in oil
butter the bread lightly and broil for just a couple minutes to brown slightly. mix cream cheese and pesto. i just wing it and put in however much i think tastes good. spread on bread and top with a tomato.
so easy and amazing. every time i make them they are gone in no time.
As far as dips go, i am always highly praised for my hot or cold spinach dips.
One new app I did was Caprese
Skewers! Small skewers with basil leaf, black olive, fresh mozzerella balls, and grape tomatoes sprinkled with herbed vinegar and olive oil.
