The One Who Bears Our Burdens

Throughout this trial there have been times when both Ethan and I have had a heavy heart. We try to really focus on the positive but of course some days are more difficult than others. After reading recently in Numbers, I was encouraged to see how God answered Moses when Moses was at his wit's end. The entire passage is contained in Numbers, verses 11-17, but what particularly stood out to me was this:

Moses: "I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me. If this is how you are going to treat me, put me to death right now -"
God: ". . . and I will take of the Spirit that is on you and put the Spirit on them. They will help you carry the burden of the people so you do not have to carry it alone."

Ethan and I found comfort in this knowing that we can cry out to God when we are overwhelmed. He hears us and he does answer. Look at how he has taken our burden and given us people who have helped us carry it! (Many of you have been part of that.) What an amazing Father we have!

A favorite Bible verse of mine is found in Psalms:

"Praise be to the Lord, to God our Saviour, who daily bears our burdens."
Psalm 68:19 (emphasis mine)

Do you have a burden you've been bearing alone?

Kimberly, it's been awhile! sounds like your nurses are fantastic! that's so good-there can be some real crabby ones (i've worked with a few) :) here's one of my favorite quotes by the Prophet of our church that I shared with the young women today at church:
"To those within the sound of my voice who are struggling with challenges and difficulties large and small, prayer is the provider of spiritual strength; it is the passport to peace. Prayer is the means by which we approach our Father in Heaven, who loves us. Speak to Him in prayer and then listen for the answer. Miracles are wrought through prayer."

my nephew went to Primary Medical children's center a couple of days ago. it was kind of a crazy weekend with lots of ups and downs. this quote was real comforting! he's doing better now, but we're thinking about you!

Thanks for the quote; it's so true! I sure hope your nephew will continue in good health. :)

What a great reminder! Too many times, we forget that our God is in control of all things and He can help carry our burdens.

Isn't it interesting how we so often try to do it alone? I find myself OFTEN keeping things in because I don't want to upset someone else with my problems or I just don't want to talk about it. It is so nice to have people who really do care about me. Thank you for being that person in my life. I know that we don't always have to talk about things, but you are praying and you are there if it is needed...such a comforting thought. We love both of you and are constantly on our knees praying for your health, the baby's safety, and Ethan's sanity.
