I looked for some pics for inspiration, but most of the homeschool rooms I found had so much clutter. I like this clean and simple corner here, (but you know books have to be hiding somewhere outside the scope of the lens!)

Here's a picture from a friend's house. I love how she has a bulletin board for each workspace, and the shelves above are a great idea as well.
The other part of our room is dedicated to play. We have a huge dollhouse, slide, rescue hero docking station, Ryan's car collection, and some indoor riding toys. It's a big room, but I'm starting to feel that we need a plan!
P.S. The whole space I'm trying to figure out just so happens to be what everyone sees when they first walk into our house!

hmmm... fun things to think about! i think i've decided that shelves above are the way to do it!!! lori gammon's organizing ideas are simplified a lot with shelving. they can get clutted too, but are cleaned up pretty easily. you could have multi-level shelves. some that the kids can reach and some that they can't.
i checked out an awesome book about organization the other day. i can't remember what it was called though. and i don't remember seeing anything in it for school areas.

take inventory or what you have and then start planning.
check out this site for some good and economical tips: http://homeschooling.about.com/u/ua/organizingyoursupplies/hsorganization.htm
Have you been browsing pottery barn kids? They've got some good storage furniture that keeps it looking nice and decorative too (for that first thing you see appeal), I know they are way out of budget for any practical person, but I just found a blog where this lady gives you the plans to build the furniture yourself (it's nock of wood, you'll find a link on my blog) I've been wanting to learn how to build furniture and this blog totally inspires me. But, I am thinking of just finding a friend that already is ok with saws and drills (since I can't talk my husband into building for me) and paying them something to build stuff for me. Anyways, this gal recently posted plans for some storage furniture that could probably be used for both toys and school stuff, tie the room together and still look good, and be esxtrememly functional as well. Obviously, I've been doing a lot of thinking about this stuff lately. What a fun project! I'm getting excited just thinking about it for you!
Liz -- I just found that website last week! I've been checking out the projects too. It's nice to have an option rather than just lusting after Pottery Barn. :)
Tawna -- Thanks for the link. I was really looking for something like that.
Have you checked out IKEA for ideas? I doubt they have a specific homeschool/playroom set up going, but they have such great ideas for how to maximize storage in your space. I realize there's not an IKEA store in Boise, but I know you can buy some stuff online, and if nothing else, at least it might give you some ideas, plus something to do while you're in bed. Plus, IKEA doesn't break the bank like Pottery Barn, though I wish someone would give me a bank so I could go crazy at Pottery Barn.
Hubby and I were just talking about how to *organize* the classroom. I totally love the bulletin boards/shelves/long desk. Of coarse my daughter was oohing and ahhing over the room with the teepee. Thanks for sharing the pics.
And for Liz - my dad makes stuff like that all the time. My mom just gives him pics of the PB catalog and he makes it. He builds things of all sizes for people.
P.S. Tawna told me you had your precious baby girl. Congratulations. What a blessing. I'm glad you made it as far along as you did. I pray that you both recover quickly and can get home soon.
